All of our fires use the principle of convected warmth to increase the efficient use of your fuel – whether you are using wood coal or gas. The cleverly designed box-within-a-box principle of our fires gives higher levels of performance than those of a conventional open fire.

As the diagram shows, in addition to the radiant heat generated by the fire, cooler air from the room is warmed as it is naturally convected around the convection chamber in all of our models before returning it to the room – extracting more heat from your fuel. An added benefit comes from the gentle and even spread of warmth – reducing the ‘hot front-cold back’ effect that many open fires can generate. No fans – no fuss, just naturally convected comfort around your room.

The balance of fireplace opening to flue diameter is incorrect in many existing fireplaces (and unfortunately in some new ones!), the result being a fire which can smoke back into the room. The larger the opening, the more frequently this problem presents – inglenooks can be particularly troublesome.
